How to Interview with the CEO
- On November 1, 2015
Senior attorneys often interview with the CEO in the final round. This article by the CEO of Russell Reynolds lays out what to do.
- Identify what the CEO should learn about you. The CEO can’t read your mind, and you need to tell your story to buttress why should you get the job.
- Prepare to be asked about who has influenced you. When you are listing your mentors or heroes, explain why to show you learn from others, including those with different viewpoints.
- Be ready for questions on your interests and values. Your answer should underscore your curiosity, ability to learn, and fit with the role, company, and its mission.
- Prep for being probed about failure. You must have learned something from a bad experience, so explain what that is. Close with why the job is a good fit.
