Successful lawyers all have benefited from mentors. I encourage you to find these people so important to your career. This TED article identifies five kinds:

1. Subject matter expert. This leader in your space can comment on trends as well as your skill set and ideas.
2. Your work champion. This person can advocate for you and also introduce you to useful people in your space.
3. Your life champion. These friends and family members keep your best interests in mind; they help you through life, understand your values, and help you remember them.
4. Work copilot. This work peer can advise on projects and personality challenges, and you can do the same back.
5. Your mentee! Engage with the next generation to keep your ideas fresh. Learn more about your leaderships style.
