3 Ways to Prep for an Intense Interview
- On January 28, 2018
I recently discussed intense interview situations. If you’re about to enter one, expect to be locked in a conference room for multiple hours, one interviewer after another, often asking the same questions. You need to stay fresh and on-point for each person because they will compare notes on how you presented, what you said, and what questions you asked. 3 ways to prepare:
- Consider likely questions/hypos from the business and legal team. Ask your network and scour the Internet so you can understand the key issues your interviewers are facing, and think about what questions an interviewer would have about your background.
- Get your soundbites in order, tailored for each interviewer. Tell good stories, and do not go long.
- Anticipate losing energy after the first interviewer or two, so bring a granola bar to keep your energy up. If you’re under the weather in any way, do not show it! Bring your own water, cough drops, and tissues. Ask for water/bathroom breaks when you need it.
Next week I will discuss likely questions to prep for.
