What 3 Traits Land You the Job?
- On March 13, 2016
By the time you make it to an in-person interview, interviewers assume you have the basic qualifications to do the job. How do they next choose who gets the job from that pool?
Harvard Business School Professor Amy Cuddy writes in her latest book Presence that the main 3 traits of winners of pitches and job interviews are (i) enthusiasm, (ii) confidence (without arrogance), and (ii) authenticity.
She explains interviewers gravitate towards people who signal belief in the job and themselves because that’s hard to fake. Interviewers also like people who present themselves in alignment, when body language and expressions match with content.
The bottom line: interviewers want to hire genuine and trustworthy candidates. So, before the interview, you need to self-assess, know your value proposition, and tell your story from the heart.
